I am home!!!

What a rough couple of weeks it’s been!

The vet sent me home yesterday, but he told mommy that I am not progressing as I should be from the amputation. A week after my amputation I had to go back to the hospital, then I had kidney failure, that got better, but I had sepsis, that got better, but I have anemia and a bleeding ulcer. WTH??? So the vet sent me home and told mommy that the prognosis isn’t very good unless I make a lot of recovery in the next few days. Guess what?!?! I’m doing a lot better today!!!! I’m still sleepy, and I don’t want to walk unless it’s to get up and go potty, but I’m hungry and I’m eating pretty well. Mommy got me and Arby’s sandwich and I ate all the meat in one bite. She almost gave me her’s, too, but she really wanted it, so I got doggie cookies and liverwurst.

The first photo on this page is right after I got sprung from the hospital, mommy stopped at the nearest McDonald’s and got me a plain cheeseburger. I ate all of the meat. I’m keto and don’t eat bread… lol! Once I got home and had not only mommy’s love, but Uncle Shawn’s and Aunt Cathy’s and all of my wonderful neighbors, I ate some more. Mommy let me sleep at Uncle Shawn’s last night. I LOVE him! He’s good cop. Mommy’s bad cop. Today, while mommy was at work, Uncle Shawn took the second photo of me, hanging like a big dog on the porch with a smile.

I’m thinking that things are going to get better and better. Before you know it, I will be running around the pool like a TriPawd on a mission to save whoever is swimming.

Here is a video of me doing my lifeguard duty when I was a Quad:

This was taken in July. How things can change so fast! Well, I’m going to get better fast, too, now that the worst is over.

Mommy refuses to believe that this is anything more than me coming off that horrible Gabapentin. She has heard horrible things from her friends about that drug! Mommy will not give me any more of that crap!

I am still in the hospital.

I have been a very sick doggie. First I had kidney failure, then I got a septic infection. Mommy will not bring me home until her gut says it’s time, even if she has to use unscrupulous credit cards to keep me healthy. Mommy was so scared and angry on Friday and Saturday that she didn’t even want to talk to anyone. Today, Kelly, the vet tech left a message telling mommy that my energy and attitude are much better. I am wanting to walk a little, but I still don’t want to eat. Mommy will talk to my doctor tomorrow around 9am. Hopefully the news will be good. If I have to stay another night, mommy will come up to the hospital and try to feed me some grilled chicken and pork that she made herself. I hope I’m hungry tomorrow.

I’m in the hospital for 3 days!

I wasn’t eating enough and yesterday I wouldn’t walk at all. Mommy called the vet (Dr. A, the good guy). He took me off all meds but the antibiotic and said to call in the morning. When mommy called, she and Dr. A agreed that I needed to go in for blood work. I am in kidney failure, even though my blood work was great at my senior checkup in July and my pre op blood work was clean, too. Dr. A says I have a 50/50 chance of pulling through this. My mommy refuses to believe that this is anything other than a complication from surgery. Mommy not believing I had cancer worked, and my lymph nodes were clean. Mommy will pull this one off, too. I have a little infection by where they did the surgery, one of the vets massaged it and got some pus to come out of my drain. I will feel better once that clears up. The vet is keeping me on IV fluids for 3 days. I will be feeling a lot better on Saturday, my kidney levels will be back to normal, and I will be going home.

I have a big fight in me because I was named after a great warrior, so I will fight this and win. I did put up a fight when they took my temperature and my blood. Mommy thinks that’s a good sign.

When mommy called at 6 to check on me, the vet on duty (Dr. P), told her that I am doing well and I walked and went potty like a good girl.

There was NO CANCER in my Lymph Nodes!!!

This is really good news! Mommy wants to have a party! This doesn’t mean that there’s no cancer, but it’s really good news. They will have to take x-rays of my chest every 3-6 months to make sure there were no random cells, but I have way more than 6 months to live! Right now I’m not so happy, but in a couple of weeks, once this wound is healed and I’m off the drugs, I will be happy again!!!!

I was a Surfer Girl!

This morning a memory popped up on mommy’s Facebook feed. It was me on the SUP, out on the high seas searching for dolphins. I LOVE dolphins!!! One time, when we lived in Treasure Island, a dolphin engaged with me at the seawall. I ran and he swam. He would even turn around when we got to the hedge at the edge of the property. Unfortunately, I tripped and fell in. He was not Flipper, and he left the scene. Mommy jumped in while my ex-daddy ran inside and got the SUP. Mommy suited me up in my life jacket, then we both got on the board. Honestly, that seawall and paddleboard probably had something to do with me blowing my ACL, which led to the prosthetic in my knee, which turned into what they think is cancer. Keep sending prayers! The pathology is not back yet! Mommy refuses to believe that it’s cancer, so that pathology is going to come back negative for cancer!!!! Anyway, I get sidetracked. I inherited my ADD from mommy.

Belle, today

Fast forward to today…. I’m still not eating much, and I still cry at night, but I’m getting better and hope to be back swimming soon. Mommy ordered a nice harness from Amazon that has a handle on it, so she can help me if she needs to. She probably won’t need to, though, I’m fast on 3 legs. Maybe mommy needs to take up jogging.

Auntie Kay came over today. She says that my stitches look real good. She has a medical background, so she knows. Dr. Adney did a really good job amputating my leg and sewing me back up.

Uncle Shawn has been taking really good care of me, too. I LOVE him! He’s my boyfriend. Mommy says that he is my day nurse and she is the night nurse. I like being in his apartment because his A/C works really well. Mommy’s A/C doesn’t do so well in the afternoon. She calls it Hot Flash O Thirty. I also love Uncle Shawn’s apartment because that’s where the treats are. I don’t want to eat anything right now, but all of us dogs at the Regency love Uncle Shawn. I just love him best, and I think he loves me best, too. Mommy calls him the Dogfather. He’s a dog whisperer. This apartment complex is awesome! It’s gated and all the dogs come out and play together. Give me a few weeks and I’ll be chasing that Pug, Bing again. They have all come to see me and say “Get well soon!” The owners of the complex even donated to my gofundme. This is a great place to live, for dogs and people (cats too).
