I’m still playful
It’s likely the cancer has spread
A week ago I did the TriPawd Shuffle for a whole 2 block walk. Then my leg started giving out. On Wednesday we went to the vet and he said I had a torn (not completely) ACL. That again!!!! Anyway, on Thursday when Mommy took me out, I wasn’t using the leg at all and I didn’t pee. She called the vet and he said that if I didn’t pee all day to come in on Friday. So we did. We went in first thing Friday morning and saw our regular vet. We didn’t do a bunch of expensive tests, but the likelyhood is that the cancer that was in my amputated leg has metastasized and is causing my paralysis. I am a happy and hungry girl. As long as I’m happy and hungry, Mommy has agreed to clean up any little accidents I may have. We are back to using puppy piddle pads.
Mommy is no slouch, so she promptly asked around on Facebook if anyone had a wheelchair they would sell cheap. (Mommy has good wheelchair karma, because she donated her brother’s fancy wheelchair to his nursing home when he died.) Auntie Karen happened to be getting a new wheelchair for her Mom tomorrow, so guess who got a free wheelchair!?!?! Mommy really believes in karma. Here’s proof. Since I’m a big girl, this person wheelchair is perfect for me. Here’s a photo of me with my new wheels and my beloved Uncle Shawn. He helps me a lot and I love him more than anyone (including mean old Mommy).
I will be 9 on January 9th. Mommy is throwing a little birthday party for me. As long as I’m a happy, hungry girl, Mommy will not send me to the Rainbow Bridge. She has promised that she won’t let me suffer. Mommy assures me that my sister, Tiffany, is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge and will show me all the ropes. She’s a Rotti, too. She had osteosarcoma, too. I hear that most Rotties get it. Once I am not happy here on Earth anymore, I will be happy to meet my sister. For a long time people called me Tiffany. I used to think “Who is this Tiffany and why do they keep calling me that?” We will have a lot to talk about. Mommy and Uncle Shawn are sad, and Mommy is a huge crybaby, but we are all focusing on the positive and tonight I’m happy to have new wheels!
Oh, and I am Alpha Dog again. Mommy is a pushover, so I am calling all the shots. If I growl just right, she will pull out a dog bed and sleep on the floor with me. Boy do I have her trained well!
I’m not doing so well.
I had started having trouble walking and I was using my leg at a funny angle, plus I was in pain, so Mom and Shawn took me to the vet yesterday. He said that my ACL is torn, but not totally torn. Mommy got very happy and invited a bunch of people for my birthday party on January 6th. I will be 9 on January 9th.
I haven’t peed in over 24 hours and my back end is paralyzed today. We will be running into the vet’s office first thing in the morning. Mommy is SUPER scared. I’m hungry and my spirits are good. Even though Mom and Shawn pretty much have to carry me, I pooped in my favorite spot, but I didn’t pee.
Please pray for me, that this is some minor thing. Mommy will get me a wheelchair if she needs to, but the bladder thing is very worrisome, especially because I had kidney failure before.
No news is good news (mostly)
I haven’t posted in a while. My health is great! My attitude, not so much. Mommy had to take the reins as far as my care. I was confused about who is the alpha dog with Uncle Shawn. He is so nice, and has helped so much, but he lets me get away with a lot and treats me like I’m a queen, and that doesn’t work for us Rotties. Mommy is a fair, but strict ruler. I was snapping at people when they did things I didn’t like. I even drew blood on one woman who approached me while I was sitting on the porch unsupervised. Mommy was out of town. When she got back, WOW! There was a new sheriff in town and my life changed. Now Mommy doesn’t let me out of the apartment without a leash and I have to wear a “Caution, I will bite” collar. At first I pouted, but now it’s OK. We are walking all the way around the block twice a day and I get to visit with Shawn, but not all day like I used to. Mommy spoke to my trainer and she said that I am having a medical issue, not an aggression issue, so with some tight Rotti rules, things are going to be just fine. Once the sore on my bum clears up, I hope to be a nice girl again and maybe get a few privileges back.
